Heritage Minutes Contest

Now that everyone is back to school, we are left to wonder how we can get students interested in history. Historica Canada, producers of the (in)famous Heritage Minutes, has an interesting idea – have kids make their own Heritage Minutes. Their Stories of Sir John A. contest invites Canadian students (Grade 6 and above) to submit entries about Confederation – a term that students can interpret as broadly as they would like.

Today at Activehistory.ca, we posted an episode of the History Slam that looked at the contest. In this episode , I chat with Bronwyn Graves, Education Manager for Historica Canada. We talk about the contest, Historica Canada’s role in promoting history, and the challenges of getting students interested in history. You can find the full post here
